Nuri Kim

Nuri Kim is a Senior Staff Product Designer at Shield.ai, where she designs AI-powered autonomy products and thinks about human-robot interaction in the near future. Growing up in Busan, she moved to San Francisco in 2009 to pursue her dream of becoming a designer. She holds a BS in Education from Korea University and an MFA in Interaction Design from California College of the Arts. Throughout her career, Nuri has created products across transportation, healthcare, and cybersecurity. Between 2011-2014, she began designing for research institutes, Teague Aviation (Boeing), and co-founding a startup. As a Product Designer at Uber (2014-2018), she designed the driver app, marketplace tools, and self-driving development products. At Verily(2019-2021), she developed AI-enabled eye screening services and diabetes care solutions. Recently, as UX Director at Lacework (2021-2024, acquired by Fortinet), she designed 0-1 enterprise cybersecurity products. Nuri is working on Curious Studio, an educational studio focused on design, math, and play. Her design interests include mobility, transportation, and human-robot interaction. She aspires to create experiences that make life and work healthier and more enjoyable, drawing from her fascination with how technologies change how we live.
